When passion teams up with determination it results into a successful business. And when completely natural ingredients make your business, everyone wins: the company, its creative founder and the people.
In a world where unhealthy lifestyle is the norm, Amra Makarevic is one of those people who chose to make a difference. Her company, Cold Pressed Juicery, is basically teaching Romanians how to live healthy in order to feel better and have more energy. It’s a fresh business, in all aspects of the word, which gains more and more power on the domestic market. “The idea for the Cold Pressed Juicery was born in 2012, but the company opened its doors in its current form in March 2015. Our main activity is providing wellness on the go for our customers by making cold pressed juices and detox packages. Our biggest success so far is creating a loyal customer base and continuously being recognized on the market for the superior quality of our products,” Makarevic told Business Arena.
It’s a challenge in a market dominated by soft drinks since almost forever. While in the west, cold pressed juices made of fruit as well as veggies do have a history, Romania has only recently found out there is an alternative. As the company’s owner admits, it all started with her own personal experience. “On my way back from my home country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Australia I went to London to complete a specialized university course. There I met my husband and decided to move to Romania for personal reasons. After my arrival to Romania, unfortunately my health started to deteriorate and with the help of my friend, a nutritionist and naturopath from Australia, I managed to get my health back on track. Regaining my health, wouldn’t have been possible without cold pressed juices and raw-vegan lifestyle.” It was a moment of revelation when Amra Makarevic realized lots of people could benefit from her own experience. “I was amazed by the power of food to ruin and heal my body at the same time! I wanted to share my journey with the people and to help them on their health transformation journey. Cold Pressed Juicery was born out of love for my new health and lifestyle,” she says.
Apart from the passion, it was also the hard work, the perseverance and the efforts to invest on a developing market. “The initial investment was around 70.000 Euro. We continue investing in our professional education as well as research and development of our products so I expect more investments in near future. Our focus is not the quantity but the quality of our investments such as international wellness experts, nutritionists, chefs that help us maintain the quality of our products at a high level. For now, we are not looking at our health-driven project in terms of return on investment. For now, we are focusing on educating the Romanian public and the biggest reward is to see them being able to make the smart choices regarding their health and transform Cold Pressed Juicery in a top of the mind health-oriented brand,” the CEO explained.
The company sells its products while working with restaurants and shops, as well as online. The key factor is the freshness and the quality of the products, since the cold pressed juices won’t spend more than three days on the shelves. Hundreds of bottles of juice are sold on a daily basis. Romania’s favorite? The green juice, made of apple, spinach and ginger.
