As Austrian investments in Romania have reached nearly ten billion Euro, Austrian Ambassador Michael Schwarzinger emphasized the strong development of bilateral relations between the two countries at the Business Arena’s Austria-Romania Roundtable Business Conference & Awards 2013, hosted by the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel on Wednesday. “Austria and Romania are partners within the European Union, members of the internal market and are both part of the European Monetary and Economic Union. We should not overlook these facts when we talk about our bilateral relations,” said Ambassador Schwarzinger.
Also present at this traditional annual business event, Dan Enache, State Secretary for SMEs, noted the solid presence of Austrian banks in Romania, and encouraged them to support the development of Romania’s economy.
Quoting Romanian Trade Registry data, Rudolf Lukavsky, Commercial Counselor with the Austrian Embassy’s Commercial Section, said there were more than 6,000 companies with Austrian capital registered in Romania and he estimated that around 100,000 direct jobs had been created by Austrian investors.
On the same occasion, business leaders, bankers and investors representing Austrian-owned operations took the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in business, new opportunities, challenges and prospects for future economic development here.
The conference included an award ceremony, on which occasion individuals and businesses saw their efforts and achievements recognized.
