Employing a customer-centered strategy, Garanti Bank has enjoyed positive results this year. In an interview with Business Arena, Ufuk Tandogan, CEO, Garanti Bank Romania, outlined some of the key elements that made those results possible, emphasizing that the bank had a long-term commitment to the Romanian market. In addition, he pointed out that the country's economy had positive growth prospects.
What are Garanti Bank’s most important results of 2015?
Our strategy of growing in a healthy and sustainable way has paid off, as we are one of the top banks in Romania. In the first half of the year, our overall loan volume in all segments (SME, corporate and retail) reached 6.27 billion lei, representing a 27.8 per cent increase year-on-year. The second quarter had an important contribution to our overall results. At the same time, during the first six months, deposits registered a 43 per cent growth in volume as compared to the same 2014 period, reflecting our continued efforts to develop customers’ confidence in our financial services. All in all, 2015 has been a rewarding year for us.

What is the main focus of Garanti Bank’s 2015 strategy?
We have had and continue to have a long-term strategy in Romania, focusing on keeping up with our customers’ needs. For this very reason, we are constantly diversifying our products and services in all market segments (retail, SME and corporate), as we continue developing them. At the same time, we keep a close eye on market trends and what our customers need, providing the best financial options to our customers. In that context, we are honored that Business Arena acknowledged the merits of our strategy this year, granting us the “Best Banking Strategy” Award. This confirms our strong commitment to the local market. Garanti has been present in Romania for 17 years, and, from the very beginning, we have aimed to achieve a healthy organic growth of both our portfolio and our market share.
